Madrasahs, along with maktabs (or kuttab), trace their traditions back through nearly a thousand years of Islamic learning. Till today, they remain the single most vital tool for preserving Prophetic knowledge and cultivating it amongst the masses of the Ummah.
In Sierra Leone, thousands of children face barriers to education due to poverty and a lack of resources. Many grow up without access to structured Islamic learning, leaving them without the knowledge and values that can shape their future. "Maktab Matters," in association with Ummah Welfare Trust, is dedicated to changing this by providing free, high-quality Islamic education to children in need.
Through this initiative, we are supporting Maktabs (Islamic schools) across Sierra Leone by ensuring that students receive qualified teachers, essential learning materials, and a structured curriculum that nurtures both their academic and spiritual growth. Each sponsored child receives a madrasah bag, uniform, books, stationery, and access to regular examinations, ensuring they have everything needed to succeed. Additionally, teachers undergo training and regular monitoring to maintain high standards of education.
Your support will cover:
✅ Teacher Salaries
✅ Regular Monitoring & Training
✅ Madrasah Bags & Uniforms
✅ Stationery & Books
✅ Structured Examinations
By contributing to this project, you are giving children in Sierra Leone the opportunity to learn, grow, and build a brighter future. Together, we can transform lives through education and faith.
